Dancer, Singer, Leader

Dina was born and raised in Pond Inlet, Nunavut and graduates from Nasivvik High School in 2012. She is a strong student who has won numerous academic awards. Her passion is hip-hop break dancing and Inuktitut dancing. Dina was instrumental in creating two youth dancing programs in Pond Inlet and teaches hip-hop to children between the ages of 6 to 12. Her programs foster confidence and leadership and are always well attended.

At 17 years of age, Dina values Inuit culture and speaks Inuktitut fluently. In pursuing her passion for hip-hop, Dina has successfully fused traditional practices, such as Inuit throat singing and Inuktitut Dance, with hip-hop dancing. Dina is a role model in her community and believes strongly that “In life we all have to be kind and listen to our Elders, our parents and be strong and helpful for our communities. Just find your true self and anything is possible.”

She is currently attending Dalhousie University and pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree.
