Authors Guidelines for Article Submission The following guidelines apply to authors writing articles for the National Aboriginal Health Organization’s Aboriginal health research journal. or use the drop-down menu to view the author's guidelines now.
GENERAL OVERVIEW Authors should submit all proposed manuscripts and associated files to NAHO’s Managing Editor within the Policy and Communications Unit:
Phone: (613) 237-9462 ext. 502 Materials should be submitted by the stated due date. Any articles received after the due date will not be considered for publication. In addition to an electronic version in Microsoft Word format (sent as an e-mail attachment or mailed on CD), a hard copy (faxed or mailed) should also be included to confirm that the file transferred properly. The initial correspondence should include a statement indicating that the proposal's content is unpublished material that has not been submitted for publication elsewhere. The Managing Editor sends the files to the Guest Editor who determines the appropriate anonymous peer reviewers. At least two subject experts representing both scientific and community perspectives will review each paper being considered for print. The peer reviewers will annotate the file with comments and requests for additions, deletions and modifications before returning it to the Guest Editor, who will then return it to the corresponding author for editing prior to publication. Authors will be given a deadline in which to submit a revised copy of their article. Failure to meet this deadline will result in the article being pulled from publication in the journal. Upon receipt of the final manuscript, the Guest Editor transmits the electronic files to the Managing Editor who will work with the NAHO Communications Officer in preparing the material for publication.
