VON Edmonton site is looking for a Manager, Care & Service – Nursing to provide professional supervisory and practice leadership and to ensure the provision of quality client care to home care programs.


Lead and manage a start-up project/program;

Supervise and manage frontline service providers;

Conduct initial clinical assessment of client needs to determine the services required

Direct and monitor delivery of client care services and day to day functions of frontline staff in accordance with current regulatory guidelines and VON policies, procedures, and standards;

Ensure all new staff receive a comprehensive orientation;

Facilitate staff development and growth through competency assessments, performance development plans, individualized learning plans, referral to practice educators, and on-going mentorship;

Receive and document all employee, family, and client complaints and escalates, if required, to appropriate Director and/or Chief of Practice;

Assist nurses in completing risk assessments, investigations of issues, incidents, or injuries;

Participating with annual budget preparation.


Current RN registration with the College of Nurses of Alberta;

Current practice of clinical skills essential

Minimum 3 years of relevant management experience;

Experience in community health preferred;

Familiarity with the quality management approach, and committed to customer service;

Demonstrated skill in leadership, community nursing, team building, communication and education;

Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple resources;

Effective communication and written skills;

Demonstrated customer service focus and exemplary service capabilities;

Valid drivers license, proof of liability insurance, and own vehicle required.
